II. Scholarship Description
- Target Level: Graduate degree (Master’s degree)
- Majors offered:
- Master of Engineering in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science
- Master of Arts in International Business Administration
- Master of Arts in International Hospitality and Tourism Management
- Medium of instruction: 100% English medium of instruction
- Research Track: 4 semesters (2 years)
- Coursework Track: 5 semesters (2.5 years)
- Expected commencement: March 2026
III. Scholarship Benefits:
Kyungdong University Global Scholarship covers:
- Full tuition fee of $5,000 for the first semester (by KDU Global) subject to compliance with KDU Global internal rules and regulations.
- The students cover the dormitory expenses of $1100/semester.
- Students/parents provide for other initial and personal expenses (e.g., airfare, application fee, health insurance).
- 2nd Semester Scholarship and Onwards: The tuition to be paid after the “KDU Global Partial Graduate Scholarship” depends on students’ academic performance in their first semester at KDU Global:
- 50% scholarship for 80-89 average mark: remaining balance: $2500
- Students with an average mark of 90 or more will receive a 70% scholarship. remaining balance $1500,
*KDU Global provides part-time student job assistance during the study program.
IV. Entry Requirements
Applicants must meet the following general eligibility requirements:
- Citizens and residents of East African Community Partner States (Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and the Federal Republic of Somalia).
- Undergraduate Degree Diploma and Transcripts.
- An English Proficiency Certificate with a minimum of IELTS 5.5 or TOEFL IBT 71 or higher is a mandatory document for both admission and visa procedures.
- Bank Statement & Balance Certificate Selected applicants are required to present a 6-month bank statement and a bank balance certificate from a sponsor showing over $16,000 prior to their final admission to KDU Global. TThe sponsor must be either the applicant’s parents or the applicant themselves. IIn cases where the parents are deceased, biological siblings may serve as sponsors.
V. Selection Process All applicants will undergo a merit-based two-stage selection process.
Stage I:

Call for Applications: KDU Global – IUCEA Undergraduate Full and Partial Scholarships 2026 (6th Cohort -Round 2)
INTRODUCTION

The mission of IUCEA is to encourage and develop mutually beneficial collaborations between and among the member universities, governments, and other organizations, both public and private.
Kyungdong University (KDU) Global is a fully accredited private university in South Korea that partners with IUCEA to offer scholarships to students from EAC member countries (Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, DRC, and Somalia).
We are excited to announce that the application period for KDU Global – IUCEA Scholarships 2026 is now open for students from the East African Community (EAC) member countries interested in undergraduate degree programs (English Track) for the following disciplines:
- Bachelor of International Business Administration
- Bachelor of International Hotel Management
- Bachelor of Smart Computing (covering Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, Data Science, Cybersecurity, and IoT).
- Bachelor of Artificial Intelligence
The duration of the program is 4 years / 8 semesters, subject to excellent academic performance each semester of study and compliance with KDU Global internal rules and regulations.
Expected commencement of the program is March 2026.
- SCHOLARSHIP BENEFITS
- Full Scholarships (Number of scholarships: limited Seats)
The scholarship covers the following:
- Full tuition fee of $8,000 per year for up to 4 years (by KDU Global).
- Dormitory fee of $4,400 for the first two years (by KDU Global)
- Return air ticket at the beginning and the end of four years (by IUCEA)
- Health insurance support every month for 4 years (by IUCEA)
- Application processing and handling fee of $250 after selection (by IUCEA
Partial Scholarships
Under Partial scholarships, Students/Parents provide their own personal expenses for accommodation, airfare, application fee, health insurance, etc, and KDU Global waives tuition fees for the first semester, and the subsequent semesters, depending on students’ performance as outlined below
1st Semester: Waiver of Full tuition fee of $4,000 for the first Semester (by KDU Global), subject to compliance with KDU Global internal rules and regulations.
2nd Semester Onwards:
- Scholarship is based on tuition fee only and depends on students’ academic performance at KDU Global as follows:
- 100% scholarship for an average mark of 95 or above
- 70% scholarship for 90-94 average mark: Student pays $1200
- 50% scholarship for 80-89 average mark: Student pays $2000
- 30% scholarship for 75-79 average mark: Student pays $2800
Note: Students are allowed to work part-time while studying in South Korea. KDU GLOBAL provides part-time job assistance to all its students—over 99% of students at KDU GLOBAL have part-time jobs
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must meet the following general eligibility requirements:

- Completion of the pre-university level of education in the home country in 2023, 2024 or 2025.

The sponsor must be the applicant’s parents or the applicant themselves. In cases where the parents are deceased, biological siblings can serve as sponsors.
- No older than 22 years of age.
SELECTION PROCESS
All applicants will be subjected to a merit-based two-stage selection process.

1.0 Introduction
The Inter-University Council for East Africa (IUCEA) wishes to invite applicants to participate in the 2024/2025 Staff Mobility Programme in the EAC Partner States for IUCEA member universities.
The objective of the Staff Mobility Programme is to encourage the sharing of academic human resources and the exchange of knowledge, skills, and experiences in order to address challenges related to capacity gaps in member universities and enhance the attainment of outputs related to the goals of EAC as a common higher education area and regional integration. Participants in the exchange program are expected to offer their services in teaching, research, external examination, program accreditation, and community engagement.
2.0 IUCEA
- Member universities that wish to receive visiting Staff from universities in the other EAC Partner States and
- Academic staff from member universities who would like to offer some or all the services under the Staff Mobility Programme to universities in the region but outside the country where the home university is located and not in the country of nationality of the visiting staff. IUCEA Member Universities are at https://iucea.org/membership/
3.0 Duration
The Staff Mobility program under this call is for a maximum of 4 months (equivalent to one semester), ten (10) working days for External Examination, and five (5) days for program accreditation.
4.0 Eligibility
The applicants must fulfil the following criteria:
- A Host Institution being an active member of IUCEA.
- An applying staff being affiliated with an active member of IUCEA.
- The academic staff have an academic rank of either among the lecturer, senior lecturer, associate professor, or professor.
- The Host University is a member university located in a Partner State other than the Home University and which is different from the country of the applicant’s nationality.
Details can be found in Form H for institutions and Form G for the academic staff.

6.0 Selection Criteria
The following will be considered while selecting the applicants:
- Academic qualifications (Minimum to be Doctorate holder) and a rank of a Lecturer
- Compliance of host and guest universities with IUCEA membership.
- Priority areas of study/subjects as may be set by IUCEA from time to time and
- Equity based on first-time beneficiaries, EAC Partner States, and universities.
- Availability of funds.

The Inter-University Council for East Africa (IUCEA) is inviting applications from eligible citizens of the EAC partner states for cohort 1 of the Postgraduate programs under the East Africa Community Student’s Mobility Scholarship Scheme (EAC-SMS). This scholarship is supported by IUCEA-Member Universities, the IUCEA, and parents/guardians/self.
46 postgraduate scholarships are on offer in various disciplines for the year the 2023/2024 academic
Eligibility:
- Admissible into the selected program in a participating University
- Be registered or registrable required to study in another EAC country (not their country of origin/citizenship)
- Nationals of the EAC Partner states (Burundi, Democratic Republic of Congo, Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan, Tanzania, and Uganda).
- Duration of the Scholarship: Depending on the selected University program for the Masters’s or Doctoral.

Kampala, Uganda, 2nd August 2023 – The Inter-University Council for East Africa (IUCEA) in partnership with the People’s Republic of China and the World Bank, have awarded twenty (20) scholarships to lecturers and tutors from Technical and Vocational Education and Training Institutes (TVET) for post graduate studies at top Universities in China.
The scholarships were awarded to lecturers and tutors from Ethiopia, Kenya and Tanzania as part of capacity building the academic and technical capacity of faculty members from Regional TVET Centres of Excellence. The scholarship is part of the East African Skills for Transformation and Regional Integration Project (EASPRIP), funded by the World Bank, to improve the quality and relevance of TVET programmes in the region.
Out of the 20 scholarships awarded, 8 are from Ethiopia, 6 are from Kenya, and 6 are from Tanzania, 30 % of the total scholarships was awarded to females.
The Executive Secretary, IUCEA, Prof. Gaspard Banyankimbona expressed gratitude to the People’s Republic of China and the World Bank for the financial support that has made the scholarship possible. “I would like to thank the People’s Republic of China, through the Ministry of Education, and the World Bank for their financial support towards the EASTRIP China TVET Scholarship programme”.
“The scholarship supports our commitment to transforming the TVET systems in East Africa by building capacity of TVET faculty to enhance their skills and knowledge and improve the quality and relevance of TVET programmes. This will have a profound impact on reducing youth unemployment through practical hands-on skills development,” Prof. Banyankimbona said.
The selected candidates went through a rigorous multilevel selection process involving the college management, IUCEA, the China Scholarship Council, and Chinese universities. To qualify for the EASTRIP-China TVET Scholarships, applicants needed to must fulfil the following:
- Be employed and nominated by an institution that hosts EASTRIP Regional Flagship Technical Institute (RFTIs) demonstrated by a working bond agreement between the institution and the candidate.
- Apply for further studies in a field of study that is relevant to EASTRIP priority areas.
- Demonstrable academic excellence.

About EASTRIP
The East Africa Skills for Transformation and Regional Integration Project (EASTRIP) is a five-year project funded by the World Bank and the Governments of Ethiopia, Kenya and Tanzania to increase the access and improve the quality of TVET programs in selected Regional Flagship TVET Institutes and to support regional integration in East Africa. The project supports the development of highly specialized diploma and degree TVET programmes for training technicians and faculty, as well as industry recognized short-term training, targeting priority sectors in transport, energy, manufacturing, and ICT.
Center for International Higher Education (CIHE) is delighted to announce the launch of a new fellowship program, established with seed funding from World Education Services in honor of Former CIHE Director Hans de Wit, to support the academic mobility of early career researchers in the field of higher education studies. The Hans de Wit Fellowship will support one researcher per year to spend a semester at CIHE.
Applications for the 2022-2023 academic year are due no later than August 15, 2022. Although any early career researcher is welcome to apply, preference will be given to applicants from marginalized backgrounds, including those with refugee status, those based in the Global South and those from traditionally under-represented backgrounds.
