Part I Training Course Part 1, 17 – 22 June 2012 Nairobi, Kenya
The training course is part of the collaborative project in capacity building between the Inter-University Council for East Africa (IUCEA), German Academic Exchange Services (DAAD), German Rectors Conference (HRK), and the National Commissions and Councils for Higher Education in the Partner Stats of the East African Community (EAC), namely Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania and Uganda. The project aims to introduce a regional quality assurance system for universities in East Africa. The training course will involve a series of workshops for the participants who will be expected later to be deployed as quality assurance coordinators in their universities. Part 1 in the series of workshops will be held in Nairobi, Kenya during 17th – 22nd June 2012. Subsequent workshops will be held in other EAC Partner States. The training sessions will focus on various quality assurance regimes, including the use of the already developed quality assurance guidelines and procedures, and carrying out pilot self-assessment processes at programme level using the guidelines and procedures contained in the Quality Assurance Handbook that has already been prepared. Later, the universities will also participate in a peer review process to be organized at the regional level, as part of the capacity building process. The entire training programme will be carried out from June 2012 to May 2013.
