The Round Table Forum is a follow-up of Part I of a similar forum that was held in Arusha Tanzania from 5 to 8 December 2011 by IUCEA in cooperation with DAAD and HRK, as part of the capacity building initiative towards the establishment of a Regional Quality Assurance System for universities in East Africa. The aim of the Round Table forum was is to develop a set of benchmark standards of Business Studies programs offered by universities in the East African Community's Partner States: Burundi, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Uganda.
The main objective of the Forum is to validate comments of various stakeholders on the Arusha draft. It is expected that at the end of the Forum, the final draft benchmark standards will be concluded for submission to IUCEA decision-making bodies for approval.
The benchmark standards are part of the milestones towards the development of the East African Quality Assurance System. In this respect, the benchmark standards for a basic Bachelor of Business Studies program are being developed entail generic competences for a graduate in Business Studies and specific competencies for specialization areas in Accounting, Finance, Marketing, Human Resources, and Business Administration Management. The focus is also on development of expected learning outcomes, content and structure of the program, the use of the credit points, student assessment and the role of internship among others.
