SPECIAL ISSUE
Sino-Africa International Symposium on Textiles and Apparel (SAISTA) &
Sino-Africa Cultural Exchange Forum (SACEF) 2026
Co-located Special Session within ICTA-EMOS 2026 | August 27, 2026 | Moi University, Kenya
Introduction
To advance textile and apparel education and research, as well as to revitalize Africa’s textile industry, Donghua University (China) and Moi University (Kenya) launched the Sino-Africa International Symposium on Textiles and Apparel (SAISTA) in 2015. The symposium is held annually, alternating between the two countries. Since its inception, SAISTA has been successfully held for 11 years, gaining recognition from global experts.
In 2016, the Sino-Africa Cultural Exchange Forum (SACEF) was incorporated into SAISTA to strengthen people-to-people exchanges. SACEF has been held for 10 consecutive years, contributing to China-Africa friendly relations.
These initiatives have not only strengthened academic cooperation but also contributed to the Belt and Road Initiative and the vision of a community with a shared future for mankind.
The year 2026 marks the China-Africa Year of People-to-People Exchange. China and Kenya are jointly striving to build a new-era model of an all-weather China-Africa community with a shared future. SAISTA and SACEF, as special sessions within ICTA-EMOS 2026, will provide a platform for professionals from academia and industry to explore cooperation opportunities in education, research, and cultural exchange.
