Competitive Call for Strengthening University–Industry Collaboration
The Inter-University Council for East Africa (IUCEA) has announced a Regional Call for Proposals aimed at strengthening collaboration between universities and industry partners across the East African region. This initiative aligns with the African Union Agenda 2063 and the East African Community (EAC) Vision 2050, both of which highlight the need for a knowledge-driven economy powered by innovation, research, and industrial development. Through this call, IUCEA seeks to create structured partnerships that bridge academia and industry, ensuring that research contributes directly to the region’s economic transformation and sustainable development goals. The Call is designed to promote systematic collaborations between academia and industry, as well as foster an enabling environment where academic institutions and private sector actors can jointly develop practical solutions to pressing challenges.
The main goals of the call are to create and strengthen partnerships between universities and businesses, improve connections between schools and the private sector, and enhance the sharing of knowledge and technology by working together on new products and turning research into commercial opportunities.
To achieve these objectives, the call will support different initiatives, such as the development of institutional frameworks for engagement and technology transfer, collaborative capacity-building programs, the establishment of opportunities for student and researcher industrial placements and collaborations, and the co-design and development of innovative products and services.
Through this call, IUCEA reaffirms its commitment to translating policy into impact, empowering higher education institutions, and driving sustainable growth through collaboration, creativity, and shared knowledge. Access the detailed call. Click here to read more.
