The Inter-University Council for East Africa (IUCEA) is pleased to announce upcoming scholarship opportunities for 2026 under Phase II of the EAC Scholarship Programme. This regional initiative is supported by the East African Community (EAC) and the Federal Republic of Germany.
The EAC Scholarship Program is designed to support high-achieving students from low-income backgrounds, promote regional integration and skill development, and strengthen postgraduate education capacity across East Africa. At least 50% of scholarships are reserved for women.
What Opportunities Are Coming?
- Hosting Master’s Students: Open to all IUCEA member universities across the 8 EAC partner states: Burundi, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Kenya, Rwanda, Somalia, South Sudan, Tanzania, and Uganda.
- Master’s Scholarships: Available to EAC nationals wishing to pursue a master’s degree in another EAC partner state (outside their home country).
Eligibility (Indicative)
– Citizen of an EAC Partner State
– 35 years or below at the time of application
– At least a Second Class (Upper Division) or Distinction
– Intends to study at a participating university in another EAC country
