KDU Global Partial Graduate Scholarship
A graduate-level scholarship opportunity for self-sponsored East Africans to pursue selected Master’s programmes at Kyungdong University Global in South Korea.
Introduction
The Inter-University Council for East Africa (IUCEA) is an institution of the East African Community (EAC) responsible for the coordination of higher educational development and research in the EAC region. The mission of IUCEA is to encourage and develop mutually beneficial collaborations between and among the member universities, governments, and other organizations, both public and private.
Kyungdong University (KDU) Global is a fully accredited private university in South Korea and partners with IUCEA to offer scholarships to students from EAC member countries: Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and the Federal Republic of Somalia.

Scholarship Description
Target level: Graduate degree—Master’s degree.
Majors Offered
Master of Engineering in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science
Master of Arts in International Business Administration
Master of Arts in International Hospitality and Tourism Management
Two years of study.
Two and a half years of study.
Scholarship Benefits and Costs
The Kyungdong University Global Scholarship covers or supports the following:
First-semester tuition: Full tuition fee of USD 5,000 covered by KDU Global, subject to compliance with KDU Global internal rules and regulations.
Dormitory: Students cover dormitory expenses of USD 1,100 per semester.
Other expenses: Students or parents provide for airfare, application fees, health insurance and other initial or personal expenses.
Part-time work support: KDU Global provides part-time student job assistance during the study programme.
Scholarship from the Second Semester Onwards
Tuition payable after the KDU Global Partial Graduate Scholarship depends on the student’s academic performance during the first semester at KDU Global:

Entry Requirements
Applicants must meet the following general eligibility requirements:
- Be a citizen and resident of an East African Community Partner State: Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, the Democratic Republic of Congo, or the Federal Republic of Somalia.
- Hold an undergraduate degree diploma and transcripts.
- Provide an English proficiency certificate with a minimum score of IELTS 5.5 or TOEFL iBT 71 or higher. This is mandatory for both admission and the visa procedure.
- Selected applicants must present a six-month bank statement and bank balance certificate from a sponsor showing more than USD 16,000 before final admission to KDU Global. The sponsor must be the applicant’s parents or the applicant. Where the parents are deceased, biological siblings may serve as sponsors.
Important: EFSET, Duolingo and PTE English tests are not accepted.
Selection Process
All applicants will be subjected to a merit-based, two-stage selection process.
IUCEA Preliminary Selection
IUCEA will conduct the preliminary selection. Interested applicants must:
- Complete the electronic application form .
- Submit the Application Form and Student Code of Conduct.
- Submit the undergraduate degree diploma and transcripts.
- Submit a passport copy.
- Submit an IELTS 5.5 or TOEFL iBT 71-or-higher report.
- Combine all documents into one PDF file.

KDU Global Final Selection
KDU Global will conduct individual assessments and confirm the final selections.
Candidates may be required to submit additional documents and designated forms if deemed necessary.
KDU Global Admission
Scholarship recipients will submit final admission documents to KDU Global upon receiving additional guidelines.
