Farewell Prof. Mayunga Nkunya, IUCEA Executive Secretary (2010-2015).


The Management and Staff of IUCEA, with deep sorrow, announce the untimely death of our former Executive Secretary Prof. Mayunga Nkunya (2010-2015), which occurred on Tuesday, 20th July 2021 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

During his time, as the Executive Secretary, IUCEA registered tremendous achievements towards the development of higher education in the EAC region.

He prioritized quality education and assurance and laid the groundwork for the declaration of EAC as a Common Higher Education Area by the Heads of State Summit in May 2017.  He also championed linkage and collaboration between Academia and Industry.

May his soul rest in eternal Peace.
