STAFF MOBILITY APPLICATION GUIDELINES

1.0 Introduction

The Inter-University Council for East Africa (IUCEA) wish to announce a call for applicants to participate in the 2022/2023 staff mobility programme in the EAC Partner States for IUCEA member universities.

The objective of the Staff Mobility Programme is to encourage the sharing of limited academic human resources, exchange of knowledge, skills and experiences in order to address challenges on capacity gaps in member universities and enhance attainment of outputs of the goals of  EAC as a common higher education area and regional integration. Participants in the exchange programme are expected to offer their services in either among the teaching, research, external examination, and community engagement.

2.0 IUCEA invite:

  1. Member universities, that wish to receive visiting Staff from universities in the other EAC Partner States, and
  2. Academic staff from member universities who would like to offer some or all of the 4 services under the Staff Mobility Programme to universities in the region but outside the country where the home university is located and not at a country of nationality of the visiting staff. IUCEA Member Universities can be found on the website iucea.org, under the heading titled: Membership.

3.0 Duration

The Staff Mobility programme under this call is for a maximum of 4 months (equivalent of one semester) or 10 working days for External Examination, for the Financial Year ending 30th June 2023.

4.0 Eligibility

The applicants must fulfil the following criteria:

  1. A Host Institution being an active member of IUCEA (paying subscription fees with not more than one (1) year of arrears).
  2. An applying staff being affiliated to an active member of IUCEA
  3. The academic staff have an academic rank of either among the lecturer, senior lecturer, associate professor or professor
  4. Host University is a member university located in a different Partner State from the Home University and which is different from the country of the applicant’s nationality.

5.0 Application procedure

Applicants should adhere to the following procedure:

  1. Download and fill out the relevant application forms on the IUCEA website Form G or Form H
  2. Submit the documents in hard copy or scanned format and academic certificates to reach IUCEA at least 21 days before the planned date of commencement of participation in the programme.

6.0 Selection Criteria

The following will be considered while selecting the applicants:

  1. Academic qualifications and ranks;
  2. Compliance of host and guest universities with IUCEA membership subscription;
  3. Priority areas of study/subjects as may be set by IUCEA from time to time; and
  4. Equity on the basis of first-time beneficiaries, EAC Partner States and universities.
